Slum Village - E(I)GO

Share:

Music video by Slum Village performing E(I)GO. Slum Village is one of the most important rap groups to ever sprout up between the two coasts. Detroit’s favorite sons have spent the better part of two decades rattling off sparse, evocative songs that have resonated across the hip-hop world. Now, they’re aiming for a more direct road into listeners’ psyches. The video for “E(I)GO” incorporates footage from seminal moments in Civil Rights movements and other key pieces of Black culture. The song is slated to appear on the group’s upcoming album, YES. The song’s title riffs on one of the points of diversion most social movements face–the question of collective good versus individual autonomy. Thankfully, Slum Village opts for the former, and solidarity wins the day.
